Gulaabjamun

Ingredients:

  1. 1 x 397g  Nestlé Condensed Milk + ¼ cup water
  2. 3 Tbsp thick ghee
  3. 60ml semolina
  4. 1 tsp elatchie
  5. ½ tsp nutmeg
  6. ¼ tsp sodium bicarbonate
  7. 3 cups Nestlé powdered milk
  8. 1 ½ cups self-raising flour
  9. Ghee and oil for deep frying
  10. Syrup for dipping

Method:

  1. Empty out the Nestlé Condensed Milk in a dish. 
  2. Add the water to the can and rinse out any condensed milk adhering to can. 
  3. Add ghee, semolina, spices and sodium bicarbonate. 
  4. Mix well and then add the powered milk and flour. 
  5. Make a soft dough. 
  6. Heat oil to moderate temperature. 
  7. Break off portions of dough. 
  8. Shape and deep-fry very gently until slightly cracked and lightly coloured. 
  9. Drain well from oil.
  10. Dip into warm syrup. 
  11. Drain on wire rack.
