May 8, 2015

Team Zimbabwe has done it!!!

A whooping 78 medals: 28 Gold, 28 Silver and 22 bronze.

This was made possible when a team of 56 athletes were selected to represent Zimbabwe during the Nestlé Healthy Kids - Physical Education and Athletics (NAPH) at the national competitions hosted by Nestlé in Bindura at the end of April this year.

The team then camped in Bulawayo for almost two weeks perfecting their skills before proceeding to Lesotho for the Confederation of School, Sport Association of Southern Africa (COSSASA) competitions. The COSSASA games prepare athletes to gear up for the biggest youth sporting competition in Africa known as the African Youth Games.

“Several records were broken at the just ended COSSASA games in Lesotho and athletics officials are yet to see if the times, distances and heights recorded are within the World Youth Championships qualifying standards.” - as highlighted in The Herald on 5th May, 2015.

The National Association of Primary School Heads President, Mrs. Cynthia Khumalo was full of praise for Nestlé Zimbabwe for paving the way for the team during the Nestlé Healthy Kids Physical Activity and Athletics competitions in the first quarter.

“We would like to pay tribute to our sponsors, Nestlé Zimbabwe who made it possible for us to hold national finals where the team was selected for Lesotho,” she said. Nestlé Zimbabwe also provided t-shirts and caps for Team Zimbabwe.
